Something we all need to read...during this difficult time
I read a post the other day and I must admit i really hit the heart, with lockdown we really are on our phones and computers alot especially on social media, especially the negativity out there...(don't shout at me on this) and i thought the best thing for me to do is share it!
“If you’ve been feeling down or anxious about your own personal quarantine situation, especially after being on social media and seeing how other’s are spending their time I want you to take a moment right now.
Take into consideration how different all of our lives are and remember that you can’t & shouldn’t compare how your own time is being spent.
I read somewhere that “we’re all in the same boat” during this pandemic, but we’re not. We might all be in the middle of the same storm, but we are all in very different boats.
- Some of us are now unemployed.
- Some of us are essential workers sacrificing our safety & working now more than ever.
- Some of us are in heavily affected areas, afraid to go out for groceries.
- Some of us are isolated alone and the silence is deafening.
- Some of us are surrounded at home and can feel both grateful & suffocated within the same day.
- Some of us are students desperately trying to adapt to an entirely new learning forum to keep up with their work.
So the next time you see what someone is doing online or hear about how a friend spent their day remember - we might all be weathering the same storm, but we are all in very different boats, and no one expects you to come out of this learning a new language or skill, or to have read those books that are currently collecting dust.
Now, repeat after me You do not NEED to be productive in Quarantine. You can allow social media & other’s accomplishments to inspire you but don’t hold yourself to anyone else’s standards or expectations, especially during this time.”
